Senate Resolution 67

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE WEST LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL BEARS FOOTBALL TEAM UPON THEIR INAUGURAL SEASON.

WHEREAS, West Lincoln High School fielded a football team for the first time in the school's history; and

WHEREAS, the team is the result of the desire and commitment of a dedicated group of young men and the community in which they live; and

WHEREAS, the Bears showed a tenacity and determination despite being the underdog against well-established teams; and

WHEREAS, the Bears' perseverance against seemingly overwhelming odds is a testament to the depth of character of these fine young men; and

WHEREAS, when championships are won in the future it will be due to the foundation laid by these first Bears; and

WHEREAS, the young men who broke new ground in the field of athletics at West Lincoln High School are players: Brandon Jordan, Matt Dillon, Dustin Porter, Justin Case, Corey Easley, Chase Howse, Corey Smith, Justin Auttonberry, Blake Howse, Sam Collins, Anthony DeLaune, Jon Case, Jamie Reeves, Kelly Porter, Steven Stewart, Murphy Tuttle, Josh Martin, Richard Green, Cody Hall, Jonathan Alford, Will Pepper, Chris Herring, Bobby Littleton, Waylan Payne and Bobby Freeman; and manager Aaron Welch; and

WHEREAS, the Bears were superbly coached by Coaches Preston Gordon and Luke Addison; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Mississippi Senate to commend the meritorious achievements of the youth of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE, That we do hereby commend the West Lincoln High School Bears Football Team for their inaugural season and the commitment and dedication of the young men who formed the first team in school history and wish them success in the seasons to come.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to West Lincoln High School Bears Football Team.
